Angel on a Bike

I was working as a student nurse in Dundee. I had gone to a party in the town of Kirkcaldy in Fife to see an Ex-Boyfriend who I still cared for.
The evening did not work out well and I felt very sad and low in spirit when I left the party. As I was driving home in the early morning my car ran out of petrol. I was in a dark lonely place tall trees and dark woods surrounded me, there were no houses around, no lights in the distance, no mobile phone.
I sat by the side of the road afraid and worried. Suddenly I heard a squeaking sound approaching. I felt scared, the noise grew louder and louder.
An old man appeared in the dim morning light on a bicycle. On the parcel shelf of his bike he had a metal petrol can. It was attached to the bike by bright coloured bungie rubber ties. He came up to the window of my car and said "I've brought you petrol for your car" as soon as he spoke all my fears faded away, I never thought to ask him how he knew I had run out of petrol it didn't seem important.
I got out of my car found a piece of cardboard in my boot and managed to make a funnel to pour the petrol in. I started the engine and the old man seemed pleased. I thanked him and offered him money for the petrol.
He refused my money and said I was very welcome he had a lovely smile. He set off on his bicycle and pedaled slowly ahead of my car. I got back into the driving seat and moved off. As I drove down the road I saw no sign of the old man on his bike I did not pass him on the road.
I never saw him again anywhere.
I think he was an Angel.
