The House on the Dead End Street by Kayln
I've had many experiences with spirits and other unexplained
phenomenon, but the one that stands out the most in my mind was the
house on the dead end street in Houston, Texas. I was 20 yrs old at the
time and had just been released from the hospital after having my first
daughter. My best friend, who was pregnant herself, came up to be with
me and help me out for a couple of weeks. My brother picked us up from
the hospital and took us to his and his wife's home where we would be
staying.
The house was a loaner from the insurance agency until repairs from
a fire could be made in his own home. The instant my friend and I
entered the home we became angry for no apparent reason. Inspite of
central air, the house was always warm and dark, no matter how many
curtains, blinds, or windows we opened. The electric current in the
house was so low that it wasn't even strong enough to heat a curling
iron. And my brother, who is normally a very kind and gentle person was
very mean and agitated. He constantly screamed and threatend his kids
(which I have never seen him do before) and he made our stay seem very
unwelcome. The only time everyone got along is when we sat outside in
the yard. Even if I was alone in the house, I never felt alone. And
every night, I went to bed with the lights on in my room. I had to. If
I didn't, something would violently bump against the bed that my new
born and I slept in.
But the freakiest part of it all was the extra room that could not
be found from the outside. There just didn't seem to be enough room for
it. We would walk around the house trying to find a place for it to fit
but to no avail. We called this room The Black Room. It was just off of
the garage (from the inside only) and although the rest of the house
was hot, this particular room remained cold and filled with flies. And
I'll tell you why we nicknamed it the Black Room. One day, I decided to
open the door, take a flash light, and shine it inside of the room. In
order to get to the door leading to the room, one has to enter the
garage, make an immediate right into the washer and dryer room, and
there stood the door on the left side of the dryer. I turned on the
lights in the laundry room, opened the door, and shined my flashlight
into the room. And what we saw scared us half to death... absolutely
nothing. The light didn't hit the walls, the floor, any objects. It was
as if it were a vortex; the darkness simply swallowed the beam of light
radiating from my flash light. The best that I can compare it to was
like trying to take a flash light and pointing it's light into the dark
sky above...it hits nothing. I've never seen anything like it before
and never have again. But I hope that one day, someone will burn that
house down.
