I Love You Too

I have always believed in other planes of existence, even when I was a very young child. However, it never occurred to me that someone from my childhood would provide me with the proof that there is an afterlife. From as early as I can remember, there had always been this wonderfully delightful woman named Julia who worked at my favorite store. She was always happy to see my mother and me, always hopeful that our lives were happy. As I became older, my mother began to tell me Julia's heartbreaking story. I learned that her life was riddled with disease and abandonment, normally this would conjure up feelings of pity, but Julia was an angel, and pity never crossed your mind when Julia was on it.

It wasn't until many years later when the diseases were taking her life that I came home from school and visited her at her apartment. We talked about many things in our lives, none of them pertaining to the inevitable. I will never forget the last thing she said to me, "I love you Anna" to this day, it fills me with joy. Two months later, I awoke from a deep slumber at about 11:30 pm to Julia's voice once again saying, "I love you Anna". I immediately told my roommate about it and my feeling that Julia had died. Needless to say, my roommate thought I needed to have my head checked. Nevertheless, my feelings where confirmed the next day when my mother called me. The only words out of her mouth were, "I have some bad news...", and I finished her sentence with "Julia is gone." I feel so fortunate that she cared enough for me to say goodbye. I guess I am writing this so I can say goodbye too. I love you too Julia.
