My Jealous Wife's Ghost
From: Mike See Story type: Ghost Location: My El Paso Home Source: Form Submission
I was married to my high school sweetheart only 2 years when a horrible car accident claimed her life. After going through the text book symptoms of denial, then anger, and finally grief, I began to experience something truly miraculous and strange. For the past 3 years my wife's ghost has visited me on many many occasions including my dreams, and I felt her during important decisions, and even some semi romantic interludes...She has always been pleasant...until I met a girl named Rosie at work.
Forgive me sweet Lucy, when I married you I wanted you forever and ever, and I never thought of infidelity. But these long years of abstinence and loneliness have taken their toll on me, I met a nice girl and we got along great, and I began to fantasize about her, yet managed to refrain from expressing my emotions to her, and didn't ever ask her out or put a move on her, even though she seemed very receptive to my mild advances.
Then one day, I pushed aside the memory of my deceased wife, telling myself I must begin to live again! As usual Rosie and I enjoyed friendly banter at work, and this time as the work day drew to a close, I approached her and asked her to meet me for a drink at a nearby bar. She rapidly agreed and we had a few drinks sitting in a private booth, talked intimately and I even ventured to hold her hand. This was a closeness we could never share under the scrutiny of co-workers and our boss. It started to get late and reluctantly we left the bar, I gently kissed her lips as we parted in the parking lot, and I returned home with my heart filled with bright hope for the future!
I couldn't believe I had waited so long to get on with my life! I went to bed still enjoying fantasies of the possibilities of this fresh new romance, and fell asleep. I was awakened in the dead of night to a sobbing noise and immediately sat up in bed. There by the bedroom door was the apparition of my dead wife! I choked in horror, for she was no image of love and affection, her face was twisted in a mask of rage beyond human capability! She glided over the twenty feet to the side of my bed in less than a second, and I recoiled onto the bed. She was a mess of rot with dark cavernous eyes and grinning carnivorous teeth and haggard black nails! As she laid her cold hands upon me, I was immediately paralyzed! She bent her maggoty head towards mine and glared into my eyes with hatred of all eternity! I knew why she was so angered! I forced myself to try to speak and finally my lips seems to loosen and I told her: I'm sorry Lucy, I will never again even so much as look at another woman! She seemed to change in that instant. Her old appearance seemed to come back, an illusion of life and youth and beauty. Her grip lessened on me, and she smiled, and then disappeared! I know I must keep my promise to my wife, or face the jealous spectre again!
