When I was a teenager I was quite stubborn. I was ready for work one day when I found that my mother had parked behind me. The car parked behind mine was broken down and wouldn't even start. I got the genius idea to have my brother help me physically push the car out of the way. My mother said she would help but after she finished cleaning. I did not feel I had the time to wait for her. My brother and I continued outside. We pushed the car from behind mine and I hopped in the drivers side to steer as my brother pushed from behind. All went well until we got to designated spot. The car started to roll by its self. I had forgotten to calculate our hill into the equation and the car started to pick up speed and headed for the wooded area behind our house. I remember looking up and seeing my mother vacuuming without even a glance in our direction. I started screaming "Stop the car" My brother was being pulled behind the car in his attempt to stop it. I froze. I then started to shout "God help me" over and over.

Then out of no where a black man dressed in construction working clothes pulled me out of the car. He jumped in then hit the brakes. This happened so fast that I can't remember it taking place I just know that it did cause a moment later we had changed places. I kept saying "Get it out of the yard" and he just looked at me with these sensitive eyes as if he were saying "I will, I am trying" without saying a word. The car began to make this clicking sound as he backed it up the hill and into place. He jumped out of the car and started to run away. I grabbed him to hug him to thank him but he seemed in a hurry to get away. All I was able to grab was his arm to shake his hand and I told him thank you so much. He nodded then walked into my neighbors yard and disappeared behind the house.

One really weird thing about it all was that our neighbors house was being built and there were construction workers all over but none of them looked up at us. I don't know how they could have missed what happened but not one of them was looking our direction, just as our mother hadn't. My brother then said "Sissy, that was our guardian angel." That is when I knew it and held my brother and cried. That night at dinner my dad asked about the tire marks in the yard and we told the story. My dad said that there was no way for the car to move by itself in the condition it was in. We all sat quietly at dinner that night, pondering what had happened.
