Three Pennies

The following occurrences happened to a coworker of mine who resides in Philadelphia. The story ends with an interesting twist that amazingly interjects me into the story.

It begins in the mid 1980s. My coworker Cathy had a friend in Danville, PA who lived in an area which used to be heavily inhabited by indians. Paranormal activity within the friend's house was consistent, and on one visit, Cathy and her friend placed 3 pennies on top of a door ledge and asked the ghosts (if there were any) to rearrange the pennies (which were placed heads down) so that they were heads up. They then left the room and came back the next day to find the pennies all heads up!

Years later, Cathy began volunteering at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. One little boy was being treated for leukemia, and Cathy spent much of her time with him. On one occasion Cathy told the little boy about the 3 pennies--he was fascinated by the story. In the months that followed, the boy, who was in and out of the hospital, was reaching the latter phase of his illness and was refusing to eat. Cathy sat in his room with him knowing that his death was impending. Then a very odd thing happened. There was a knock at the hospital room's door, and there entered a family: a father, a mother and a little girl. The parents looked at Cathy and acknowledged that the little was indeed very sick. They asked if they could perform a ritual on the boy. Being very religious, Cathy agreed and watched as they performed some chanting. At the end of the chanting, the father took the little girl and placed her directly on top of the boy. The family then left. Within minutes the little boy was recovering and asked for pizza! Cathy ran out of the room to get the nurses, and asking everyone in which direction the family went in. The family had not been seen, at all! Months later the little boy was once again severely ill, and Cathy finally received the inevitable call that the boy had passed away. When she arrived in her office the next morning, Cathy was shocked to find three brand new pennies placed in a row heads up on her desk!

Hearing this story, I was fascinated, and asked if Cathy had the three pennies. She carried them with her in her purse. She pulled them out and I took a look at them. Immediately I noticed something amazingly different about these three pennies: EACH of the three were ghost stamped! I then made yet another observation: they were dated 1993. Cathy was sure that the incident happened in 1988.
