A Child's Intriguing but Sad OOBE
From: Melissa () Story type: OBE Location: Bryant Pond, Maine Source: Form Submission
In 1978, at age 11, I stayed overnight at a friend's house which was five miles away from my home. As I lay awake, staring at the ceiling, I clearly saw the following tragic event happen at 8:00pm sharp: My dog "Tippy" began to cross the road in front of our house. A small red truck with a white cap on the back hit and killed him. A lady wearing jeans, a medium brown cordueroy blazer and mid-length wavy brown hair stepped out of the driver's side. She was crying and shaking. She picked up Tippy and carried him to my house. She apologized profusely to my parents. The 'vision' was over in a flash. (Obviously the actual event probably took 15-20 minutes.) I sat bolt-upright in bed and started wailing "My dog is dead!" "My dog is dead!" To which my friend's mother comforted me and insisted I had a nightmare.
Although I had not talked with my parents, I announced to everyone at school the next day that my dog died. By the time I got off the bus at home, I had coped with the tragedy and was comforted in knowing that it was not the lady's fault. My folks greeted me with tears in their eyes. I told them I knew, and asked them for all the details. Sure enough, it happened exactly as I saw it.
A sad story, yes, but even back then I understood that
this 'vision' or 'out of body experience' was an
awesome thing to have happen. My theory thus far is
that the key lies within the other 90% of our brain that we supposedly
don't use. I think that our
subconscious mind is much more powerful than our
conscious one. Peace to you. :-)
