Kitty Ghost

I had always been raised to think all supernatural things were just mental illness or imagination. Then when I moved into the house where my grandmother used to live, I learned otherwise.
One night soon after moving in, as I was climbing into bed, I felt my foot hit something furry, which tensed up and jumped off the bed, then jumped back up and started walking up the bed. I had never owned a cat( though I've course I'd seen and petted other people's cats), but I felt pretty strongly that this was one and that it was a little annoyed with me, something in the feel of the fur and the rhythm of the movement. What was really odd was that I could feel/hear the footsteps and the shaking of the bed as the cat bounced on and off the bed the way they would have been on a regular spring mattress, but the bed was a wooden futon and a cat would never have been heavy enough to make footsteps I could feel on that, even if there had been a way for one to get in the house( there were no pets of any kind there at the time). I had a weird feeling, like you do when you have a rare encounter with a beautful wild animal and hardly dare breathe for fear it'll run away.
Anyway, when it got to the head of the bed by my pillow, it disappeared.
A few nights later, a beam of
moonlight came in the window next to my pillow, and I saw this faint
outline, almost as if it were made of clear crystal, of a cat curled up
there, and felt the vibration of it purring next to me. I don't know
why I mentioned it to my mom, as I said before she wasn't really the
type to encourage such things. She looked kind of surprised and told me
that my uncle, who had slept in that room as a teenager, had often
reported the same thing and had been convinced it was a ghost, and that
she had also felt a cat on the bed once or twice while living there but
thought she had just imagined it. I saw and felt the ghost kitty
several more times after that, often comforting me when I was sick. He
didn't show up as often after I got a live cat ( or maybe it's too hard
to tell them apart in the dark!), but I do recall one occasion when I
saw a faint distortion in the air, only about a foot or two off the
ground, moving towards the bed, and both my cat and my dog sat up and
stared at it, too.
