Saint Anthony's Help
The first time I ever heard of Saint Anthony was when I was working as
a nurses aide at a nursing home. I had lost a pearl ring that my
boyfriend (now husband) had given me. I searched all day long for the
ring without any luck. I was so sad and told one of the patients what
happened. She told me to pray to Saint Anthony. She explaind that Saint
Anthony is the one that helps with anything lost. So before going to
bed that night, I said a little prayer. I went to work the next day and
while signing in at the desk a nurse holding the ring asked if it was
mine. she said the janitor was sweeping up and right before dumping the
trash in the huge bin, he noticed something shiney. It was my ring.
My niece came over on a hot day to take a swim in our pool. When she
came out she noticed an earing was missing and became very upset
because it was a diamond earing. I quickly told her to pray to Saint
Anthony. I did also and we started to look for the earing in the pool
but did not find it. There was daily activity in our pool, weather
permittiing and we vacuum it often, about once a week. About 3 weeks
after the earing was lost, I was in the pool and stepped on what I
thought was a pebble. I picked it up with my toes to my hand. It was
the earing.
It was a nice sunny winter day. there was a lot of snow on the ground
so I drove my son and our dog to the park where I could let both of
them run relatively free in the fenced in baseball field. After an hour
or so we left to go home but I could not find my keys. I searched the
field while praying to Saint Anthony but did not find them. The police
station is right across from the field so I went in and repoted them
lost in case any one turned them in. Then we walked home as it was only
a short distance. I picked up the car later that day with a spare key.
2 Months later spring came. I went to the same field with my son and
our dog. The keys were lying on the ground just waiting for me to pick
them up.
Over two decades have past since a kindly woman in a nursing home,
named Mrs Rossi, told me about Saint Anthony. I offer these stories in
her honor as they are the three that have held in my memory but there
have been countless times that Saint Anthony has heard and answered my
prayers sometimes immediately, sometimes in his own sweet time.
