Water, Anyone?

This was by far the most terrifying moment in my life. It was about a year ago, and I had just returned from putting my three-year-old daughter to bed. My husband was in bed reading, and I dressed in my nightgown, slipped in beside him and opened my own book. I always have a glass of water on my nightstand when I sleep, because I wake up with dry mouth, sore throat, etc.

This was a particularly cool night, and the water was iced… Yet there was an abnormal amount of water on the outside. I didn’t think anything of it, really, and continued reading. Well, my daughter must’ve woken up because she started crying, so, my husband and I set our books down, climbed out of bed and swept quickly to her.

She was sitting up in bed and had a look of utmost horror on her face. When she saw us, she held her arms out to be hugged, sobbing, “Mummy! Daddy! The man grabbed me! Don’t make him grab me!”

This completely startled us both, and my husband immediately checked the house for anyone… Anything whilst I calmed out daughter down. I told her it was just a dream, and that she should go back to sleep. After another hug and kiss, she did.

Thinking about this, I trotted back to my own room, getting back into bed and reaching over for a drink of water. There was still the same amount of dew collected on the outside.

Well. Once again, about ten minutes later, our daughter was crying again, this time screaming. We both ran into her room, and she was sitting up again, holding her arm. My husband crouched beside the bed as I tried to pull her hand from her arm long enough to look at it. She had on a navy blue long-sleeved shirt. There was a hand mark… Like someone was grasping her arm… And it was wet.

Whilst my husband looked her over, I went back to my room to grab pillows and blankets, because my daughter wanted us to sleep in her room that night. The glass of water on my nightstand was empty – and bone dry. Outside AND inside…
