Civil War Chills
From: Story type: Ghost Location: Louisiana Source: Form Submission
Some years back in the middle of the Civil War, there was an old house used as a hospital and shelter for the soldiers who fought for everything that they believed in. This little hospital was small, white, and stood on this little hill. I'd like to say it's in keitchie but I don't remember, but I do know it's somewhere around there. The hospital didn't have very many soldiers to help until the time came when they fought at a battle feild just a little way down the road from it.
That night was the biggest slaughter there was ever known in the state of Louisiana. The soldiers screamed and screamed in pain as blood fell to the floor in puddles of red. The nurses and doctors were all struck with horror as the sounds of guns were still ringing in the battle feild.
A few nights past when all the fuss was going on. Almost everyone in that hospital died. I can't remember if some lived or what, but to this day, that hospital stands on a peaceful hill, harldy surrounded by houses. In the dead of the night, mostly when it's still, you can still hear the screaming of the men who died there.
There is
one man, a doctor, who mainly haunts it. He died when he had to go down
the hill to fetch the other wounded soldiers. He stands in the main
room of the house. The spirits of the house live there and come out at
night as if the time was still going on as they remember it. Also in
the night, the blood of the soldiers come leaking out of the walls and
dripping to the floor. Down the road where the battlefeild was, they
made a graveyard for all the men who died out there. In the coldest
night when the moon is full, you can hear the gunshots and the cries of
the men who died in the woods just beside it.
