Jack the Ripper?
From: Geraldine (geraldinek@msn.com) Story type: Ghost Location: Whitehall, London Source: Form Submission
I'm a historian by trade, i moved to white hall in the early Autumn three years ago and found it a charming place, the many nooks and crannies of smokey London intriged me and felt strangly drawn to the area. As you must have heard Jack the Ripper is a famous killer in the 19th century.
I was interested in the history of the area and after checking files of the local library one night, I stumbled home as I was partial to brandly. By coincidence, I found myself down the famous allyway where the first of the rippers victims was found. I quickened my pace as the allyway seemed strangly cold, and that my footsteps seemed to echo in the odd quiet that pervaded the street, it was then i realised someone had been trying to match my footsteps. i turned but in the glare of the lamp light I could see nothing. I heard the clip clop of horses shoes but so unlike the modern noises of bussling London that I'm so used to. I heard a scream right in front of me and fell back against the wall in terror. I saw what seemed like shadowy figures, two of them to be exact, in a flickering light. One figure slumped to the ground, it instantly vanished as modern traffic sounds broke the atmosphere.
Since then I've see the same scene in the allyway every year. maybe your
should visit some time and see if you have the same experience...
