Title: Lost and Found
Experience Type: Haunting

I was always the one that wanted to see what couldn’t be seen. Even as a young boy I always wanted to see a ghost. I didn’t have a close relationship with anyone who had died. Until one day, my grandfather on my mother’s side passed away. We were a lot alike, we even had birthdays very close to each other, and so we often made it a double party. The night following his death my grandmother, Virginia, heard her name being called from the corners of her room. That very night she saw his face again for the first time since he was dead, but that was certainly not the last.

A few years later, my eldest cousin Paul, who was named after him, had a similar experience. He too was in a room by himself when he saw him, but this time there was something very different about him. His entire body was in a gray state as if he was just ash blowing in the wind.

One of the more recent exposures was when my own mother saw a small, yellow bird tapping on our kitchen window. At first she thought nothing of it, but it continued for the next five days. She finally told her mother about it, and the bird stopped coming.

Which finally brings this story to me. I have had very few experiences with the dead, but it isn’t like I haven’t thought about it. My most memorable experience was one night when my Great Grandfather, we called him Papaw, passed away. I was having a very strange dream. Everything was very bright, and I couldn’t see much of anything. Then moments later I saw his face, but it wasn’t the face that I had grown to know. He was much younger, but I still knew it was he. I asked him what he was doing out of the hospital. He said he didn’t have to go anymore. So I asked him if he was coming home, and again he told me no. In a matter of seconds I was back in my bed, and my Grandmother came through the door. She told me that he was dead. I asked how long ago did he pass, and she said about an hour ago. Just then I woke up sweating, and my Grandmother came into the room. She said that he was dead. Again I asked her how long ago, and she gave me the same answer as before. This was the first and only time something like this had happened to me, until my Grandmother moved out, and I got her room, which used to be my Grandfathers study. Since then I have been having the strangest feelings in that room, but I do not fear them. I know exactly who it is.

The reason I am telling you this is because I had a new experience this very day, but it wasn’t just me who saw it there were three others who saw the same thing. It all happened when my Mom, my sister, my friend Drew, and I were sitting in my family room watching T.V. People were mowing our lawn outside so we were trying to block out the noise. When all of a sudden we all four had the strange urge to look at our back door. We could see the shadow of a man waving at us slowly as if he were saying good bye or hello, I am not really sure which it was. I thought at first it was either a neighbor Landon, or one of the mowers so I went to check it out. As I approached the door, the figure faded away. I looked outside and no one was there. My friend Drew, jokingly, said that maybe it was one of the spirits I had been talking about so much. As soon as he said that I rushed to the phone to call my Grandmother. I soon as I told her what had happened she told me not to fear it, and she knew exactly who it was. He had come to visit us again, and I knew it was an honor for it to have happened to me. Thank you for your time reading my story. I hope you enjoyed.
