Best Friends Across Time and Space

We were best friends in middle and high school. When I married at age 20 and moved to San Diego, she came to visit and ended up staying with us for a few months until she found a job and place to live there too. I had three children, she was single and worked, our lives drifted apart a little because of our different interests. She married and had a son at age 33 - we reconnected and I was thrilled to see Janice, who always mothered everyone, have a baby of her own. She was so happy.
The last time we saw each other, we spent the day together, her Christopher was just a toddler. She said that her husband thought it might be best if they moved to Illinois where his family lived, it was a quieter and cheaper place to raise their son. She promised to write or call, but never did.
My life was busy raising my three children, but there was never a time that I didn't think of her, or send a special love thought to her on her birthday, July 10th.
My marriage fell apart after 23 years, I was offered a job in Denver and moved here. Always, I thought of Janice and even tried, over the past 10 years to find her, calling any number in Illinois with the same last name as hers, hoping to find her. I even 'Googled' her, her husband and son in hopes of finding her again. No luck.
One night, a few months ago, she came to me in a dream - SO real. So young, and beautiful, she looked just like she did in high school. We were sitting, eating a salad just like we were at lunch, and she looked me straight in the eye, after wiping her mouth with a napkin, "Mar, I need you to call my sister."
I awakened, and never questioned the dream, thinking it was just that, a dream. Again, I was sad we'd lost touch and thought it was strange that she would ask me to call her older sister, because in all those years, I'd never met her sister, only known that she was a flight attendant for United.
I went to my computer, early in the morning after the dream, and once more, (for the hundreth time) 'Googled' her name. This time, her name jumped at me, only it was her obituary in the San Diego Union. For the longest time, I couldn't move as I read the very few words about this woman I so loved. It told me, from the details, husband and son's name, sister, mother, that it was indeed her and after all this time to find her and yet now she was gone.
I cried and cried, and could not talk about this for the longest time.
More days went on, and I kept thinking of her and telling her how much I loved her and wondered how she passed on.
That night, I had another dream, much like the first, only this time we were walking and she said to me, firmly, "Mar, I ASKED you to call my sister." This time, I went to the computer, found her sister's name and phone number and kept the number, knowing I needed to call.
It took days before I had the courage to call, knowing how shocking the story would be to her and the likelihood that she'd think me nuts or a stalker.
When I finally called her, she told me that she'd had a terrible day, been laid off from her job the day before and had cried, talking to her sister, wishing she had some sign that she was still with her and that she was close.
When I told her of this, she and I both cried, knowing she was, indeed, still with us and looking out for us.
Angels are real, life goes on and love is the ONLY thing that trancends the grave.
May our father God and His holy Son, Jesus Christ bless and keep you, forever. BELIEVE!
