This event took place April 1, 1988 at the Have faith in God tabernacle at Shoulderblade, Ky. about 7 miles from Jackson. My husband and I had just gotten married that day and had no where to live, so the church allowed us to move into the parsonage in the basement. This seemed like an excellent idea for both parties. We would have a home and the church would have someone to watch over it and do some odd jobs.

We finally got settled in for the night and stayed in the parsonage. We couldn't really afford a honeymoon. Before we could fall asleep the glass doorknob began to rattle on the shut door to the bedroom. It began to turn back and forth as if someone were trying to get in. The door didn't even have a lock. My husband immediately suspected that someone was in the parsonage. He grabbed his gun and slowly opened the door. He stepped out into the hallway and looked about and could see noone. I stepped out behind him shaking with fright. He went into the bathroom and looked around, checking behind the shower curtain. Before he could walk back out the lights went out in the bathroom. He whispered for me to turn the light back on for him. I was afraid to move but I did as he ask.

Suddenly we both heard shouting up in the church upstairs like someone was preaching from the pulpit. I don't remember what was said now. We both ran upstairs as fast as we could. When we reached the top of the stairs the shouting stopped. We looked everywhere but found noone. We returned downstairs and as we reached the hallway my husband grabbed me and told me to get my purse and keys to the truck. He told me there was something black and misty looking floating across the living room.

Together we ran out of the parsonage and into the truck. As we passed the living room window I too saw the black spirit pass by the sheer living room curtain. I couldn't believe there could be something like that in a church.

My father-n-law returned later that night with my husband and searched the church up and down. There was no sign of anything. The next morning after my nerves settled I went to the parsonage to get a change of clothes. I decided that since it was daylight I would go ahead and take a bath first. Everything seemed fine. When I got into the tub I began to feel like something was watching me. I pulled the shower curtain closed and in a few secounds I saw the black spirit come into the bathroom. I could see it through the clearish curtain. I began praying and I closed my eyes and rebuked the spirit and commanded it to leave.

I quickly got out and got dressed and left. We told the preacher and his wife and they went about annointing everything and praying. They told us that the reason the last family had to move was because their son had been dealing in witchcraft and conjuring up spirits. We of course moved our things out immediately.

You don't think of churches as being a good place for spirits but they can come and go. I hope someone with lots of praying power has been able to banish this ghostly spirit since then. I'm not sure what it was but it didn't want us there.
