I Should Have Died

Back in the late 90's, I was a policeman. During one of my patrols, I was driving through a hilly area. This area had two large hills side-by-side. As I was climbing the first hill, I started to feel a presence off to my left side. I looked left but did not see anything.
At this time I was now at the top of the first hill, about to decend, when I heard a voice tell me to "BREAK." It was kind of an inner voice, so I thought I was just hearing things. I ignored it at first. I heard this voice tell me again to break, and I started to make a half-hearted attempt at breaking but I didn't know why I was doing so ( I was also a bit puzzled as to why I was bothering to break).
At this time, Im guessing (going to assume it was my guardian angel) the spirit entered my body as I had a feeling come over me. The next instant my foot left the floorboard and slammed on the breaks (without any action by me). I also felt me pulling the steering wheel to the right (again without me doing this myself). At this time, I was now about 1/4 the way back up the second hill. At this time, a vehicle came over the top of the second hill (heading directly at me) completely in my lane.
The car swerved to his right and just missed me. I activated my emergency lights and proceded to climb the second hill. I thought for sure I was going to have a drunk person on my hands, but as I reached the top of the second hill, I saw a black trash bag lying in the the other lane. I turned around and headed back down the hill. The car that had missed me was waiting at the bottom on the side street (an intersection)
I didnt get out of my cruiser, as I had rolled my window down. He didnt say a word and had basically looked petrified (as Im sure I looked that way too) I told him that should that happen again (a bag in the road) that he should choose to hit the bag instead doing what he did. I told him we both could have been killed. He nodded his head, and I went back on my way.
I suggest that anyone that gets an "inner voice" telling them to do something, that you listen to it.
