Scared To Death!

My mother told me this story and it took place in the 1950's.When my mother was just twelve years old,one day after school,a couple of her friends and her were walking home and this was early in June.Anyway,They came to a fork in the road and heard,a thumping sound and it was very loud and the ground was viberating.It was coming from the near by woods.Her and her friends got very scared and her friends took off running and screaming up the road.And,my mother ran in the opposite direction and back towards the school.Her mother and sister came looking for her a half hour later.They found her and they all went back home.My mother told the story to her own mother and she didn't believe her at all.She slapped my mother across her face for lying.But,she wasn't lying!

Three days later a man came to visit my mom's parents and told them both about what he heard.He was working by himself on the road three days earlier and heard the same loud thumping and the viberating sounds coming from the same woods.He also got scared and left in his truck in a big hurry!There were people living near by where it had happened and three nights later,people heard these terrible howling sounds coming from outside around their neighborhood!My mother and her both parents and brothers and sisters heard the neighbors talk about it the following days later.My mother's mother,then believed it after a neighbor told her about what she heard,herself!Later on,there was also a man who worked in the woods and saw these giant foot tracks in the mud and he was scared and nervous and left the woods.He never liked going back there after what he saw! My mother or anyone else could never figure out what it was!It was a very scarey time for my mother and for everyone else!
