White Lady

This is the area where the infamous White Lady supposedly haunts the park on the shore of Lake Ontario. 30-35 years ago, my brothers and I used to love to cross-country ski on the hills and woodsy trails of the golf course there. We'd go late at night and it was beautiful. This one time, however, I went late in the afternoon on a gray, overcast day by myself. Just at twilight, as I came out of the woods onto what was then the 17th fairway, I suddenly became quite cold, although I was sweating from the work out.
As I made my way to the green, which is probably about as close to the lake as you get on the course, I got a real chill. Looking back up toward the 18th tee and fairway, I saw a lone figure in white, accompanied by two large, white dogs. Appeared to be a female person in a long coat or gown. She was 50-100 yds away. I just watched, warily. I knew the story of the White Lady, and frankly I was spooked. She moved slowly toward me a little, then reversed and slipped off north toward the lake shore. She disappeared.
People walk their dogs there all the time, and it was getting dark. Still, knowing the story of the White Lady, it creeped me out a bit. I headed back to my car as fast as I could go. Felt the same rush and racing pulse the time I almost stepped on a timber rattler near the fish hatchery in Caledonia-Mumford.
