Angelic Encounter

I was stationed at the Navy Seabee base in Gulfport, Ms in 1987. One week before graduation from training I was on a liberty weekend. I was attending a graduation party to celebrate finishing up A school. At around 1200am the party was over, I was not drunk and didn't do drugs. I was around 15 miles away from the base and did not have a ride. So, I began the long walk along the shore back to base. Gulfport and Biloxi, Ms has about a 22 mile shoreline or so thats mostly beach. It was very quiet as the hours passed by and eventually the traffic stopped. At approximately 200am I was passing through a large flock of birds that were gathered along the shore. They were flying over my head as if they were attempting to attack me, or maybe warn me about what I was about to experience. It scared me with all of the birds, and it was pitch black as you looked out into the gulf coast so I began running. The lights from the road were dim because I was right on the shore. All you could hear was the squaking birds and the waves of water.
Then suddenly as I became tired from running I looked out into the gulf. Near me there was a very large man standing in the water, but yet his feet were out of the water. He was at least 15 feet tall and wide bodied. He was all white wearing some sort of long white robe. It was not the type of white like a sheet of paper, but a luminescent sort of white or glow. His hair was long and white, also he had a long white beard. At first his back was turned, but then he looked directly at me. I looked into his eyes but was to afraid to say anything. I could not believe what I was seeing. I picked up my pace as I continued to walk backwards looking at this man. I had a cigarette in my mouth, but it dropped out from the fear as I continued to move away from him. Suddenly, there was a drainage ditch that came down into the sea from the road, but I could not see it in time. I fell over and into the ditch because I continued to watch this man and he continued to stare at me.
Once in the ditch the water was deep and very dark, but I was able to pull myself up on the barrier wall. I believe that God got me out of there. Once out of the ditch I did not look back, but I began to run as fast as I could to get away from that man. But he was no longer there.
I told my shipmates about it but they thought I was crazy. I will never forget what I saw that night. It could have been a ghost, or an angel, or a spirit. What it wanted I don't know.
