Cold Chill

Early last year, as usual, we went up north to visit my grandparents. We stayed at the farm for about a week, as usual.

But one thing was different.

My brother and I slept in a different room to usual; the other room we normally slept in was occupied by my grandfather as there were bugs in his bed.

The room we slep in contained one bed; a King-sized waterbed. So, we took turns. The first night there I slept on the floor on a mattress, my brother took the bed. I had a really interesting dream that night regarding my favourite show Supernatural.

The next night, I slept in the water bed. Now comes the good part.

I woke up in the middle of the night, for no reason whatsoever. I should have slept right through the night. And despite the fact I had a sheet, a heavy quilt and a lighter one on as well, I was freezing. And not just a little bit cold. I mean, freezing.

At first I just thought nothing of it, but of course in the back of my mind was the knowledge that extreme drops in temperature was characteristic to a spirit of some sort being around.

Then I felt it.

On my neck, at the exact spot you'd find my pulse, I felt two fingers pressing down, like someone would do it they were checking for a pulse.

I thought, (it was late at night; I wasn't going to say it out loud at the risk of waking up people. And besides, they're all skeptics) as firmly as I could, "Yes, that's my pulse. See, I'm alive." And I must have thought it over two times at most, although the second time I varied it a bit.

Shortly after, the fingers left and I no longer felt cold.

Then I went back to sleep.
