Distinguishing Spirits

When contacted by a spirit claiming to be angelic, there are ways to tell if it truly is. Unfortunately, Satan and his minions can appear as beings of light, and often do so in order to deceive us.

Ask to touch the being. If it is an angel, it will either refuse (if it is a spirit it will be unable to touch you because it has no body) or it will indeed touch you (if it a resurrected being who does indeed have a corporal body).

Moreover, angelic beings do not just appear; they are generally there to deliver a message, and will proceed to do so.

If it is a spirit sent to deceive you, it will attempt to touch you, but will be unable to make physical contact (altough you may feel an odd sensation at the time). A spirit sent by God will not attempt such deception. If confronted by such a spirit, call upon the name of Jesus Christ and order it to depart. It will become angry, but this is better than letting it get a foothold into your life and home. Begin to pray, and continue to do so until it goes away. Then, maintain a spirit of holiness in your home by praying regularly, avoiding ungodly influences, and reading scripture. This will fill the house with the Holy Spirit, making it an unattractive place for a demonic being.
