In Drew County Arkansas, about 15 miles south east of Monticello, there is a remote place where a dirt road crosses the railroad tracks. Supposedly, if you drive south past the railroad tracks until you get to the deer camp, you can wait there to see a "floating" light moving slowly from the tracks toward the cabin. It has to be on a cloudy, moonless night because that's what it was like when the engineer was killed... no one knows more than that these days. Some people will say that deer hunters shot toward the headlight of the train and killed the man. Others say that bored pranksters put something on the track that killed him. One way or the other, the story goes that if you park on the dirt road facing the tracks with your head lights on, the light will float momentarily near the tracks, then come flying at the car and blast through the windshield killing or dismembering the passengers of the car.
