My nephew, Stephen, passed away suddenly at the young age of 29. He lived his life from the age of 6 with Tourettes
Syndrome. This is an involuntary tic that could be sounds the person makes or muscular movements. He went through so many different tics during his lifetime but one in particular was constantly clearing his throat. He was holding one of his friend's small daughter when she looked up and asked him why he made those funny noises. He told her that when he was little that he had swallowed a frog. One thing that Stephen NEVER wanted was pity from others because of this disability. Losing him at such a young age was devastating to our entire family. He was one special guy that loved everyone and was loved by those who knew him. My husband and I were preparing for vacation and I felt like I just didn't want to go far because it was the first time away from the family since Stephen's death. We live in Virginia and was getting ready to drive 13 hours from home. We made the trip but it was tough. I was walking out to the pool and just felt so far away from home and found myself in a conversation with God. I asked him to be with me and my husband as well as the rest of our family. I asked for some sort of sign just to take this empty feeling from me. As I continued to walk to the pool area, I noticed something on the walkway just ahead of me....it was the cutest little frog. That was my sign that Stephen had sent to me that everything was okay. After returning later that afternoon to our room, which was on the 3rd floor, I walked outside and what was on our balcony...another frog. That little frog hung around the balcony the entire week we were there. Our angels are always among us. I'll always remember the sweet story Stephen told that little girl. I know he is always going to be with each of us....seeing those little frogs is just another reminder!
