The Glowing Figurine

It wasn't long ago when I came home from visiting with my father and found the house in a state of disarray.
The first thing Mom told me was, "You're going to love this."
It so happened that our power was out. The day had been exceptionally hot, only a few degrees away from the all-time high for our town. The assumption was that all the air-conditioners working put the electricity under strain. The power, however, went out in a very unusual way.
First, Mom noticed that the air-conditioner wasn't coming back on. Then, two of the cable boxes went out, but not the third cable box, or the TV or the clock.
After that, the computers shut off. Certain outlets worked and others didn't. We were frantically checking the house, trying to find what was working and what wasn't. Two TVs went out, but the last one didn't. It was getting hotter and hotter without the air-conditioning, and the temperature outside hovering around 100.
Finally, with a jolt, the electricity went out altogether.
It was miserable, waiting for the power to come back on. All we could do was sit on the sofa, with only a paper fan for cooling purposes.
After what seemed like an eternity, Mom pointed to a pair of angel figurines that stood on the TV stand. "Look!" she exclaimed. "The one on the left is glowing, but the one on the right isn't!"
They were identical figurines. They weren't painted with glow-in-the-dark paint or anything like that. I had never seen either of them glow. I took into account that this was exceptionally strange. A few seconds later, the power came back on.
Looking back on it, I don't know what to think. I've never heard of electricity failing in certain areas of a house, but not in others, for instance. I still don't quite know how to explain that.
The figurines came from the dollar store. I never gave them much thought, but apparently they were used as a signal from above. Regardless of what you might think, I believe it was an angel. In any case, I just thank God the power came back on.
I've never seen the figurines glow since.
