One night when I was about 20 years old, my best friend and I went over to a guy's house to play poker with him and about five of his friends. We were the only two girls in attendance. My best friend was sitting on my left and we were enjoying the game and everybody was laughing and talking. I was sitting there not really talking to anybody just observing and watching the dealer of the moment, a guy whom I had never really met before but had seen in passing once or twice.

As I looked at him describing the poker game we were about to play, a clear male voice spoke in my left ear and said, "That's the man you're going to marry." I processed that for a split second as that was a very strange statement indeed. Who would say that at this poker party? Is somebody making fun of me? I whipped my head to my left to see who said it and there was my best friend deep in conversation with people to her left, not even close to paying attention to me and plus she is female and that voice had been clearly male. Everybody had been seated and no one had been up moving around.

Even though it was noisy with laughter and chatter, everything around me had gone kind of quiet when that voice had spoken its prophecy in my ear. I didn't know this guy at all, so who had the nerve to say he was the one I was going to marry! That's crazy! I didn't mention it to anybody for fear they would think I was crazy too.

Well, I bet you can guess what happened. Three years later we were married. I did try to push him away in the beginning, partly because of the voice telling me that we were going to be married, I guess I was scared. We've been married for almost 19 years now and only within the last few years have I told anyone about this happening to me. Some people have given me that look of skepticism, even my husband, but our daughter loves the story!
