Native American Spirits

My friend Casey and I were about 13 when our mothers took us on a mini-road trip. Casey has lots of Native American heritage, so we stopped spent a day at what used to be a Native American camp. There were still little houses and 'artifacts', (probably all set up by the people who took care of the place) but there was also what can only be described as a church.
It was a large, round building, half underground. While in there, Casey and I felt a need to be quiet, respectful. When other kids started being noisy in there, we shushed them. Upon exiting the church, we found some girls tearing apart the roof, which was perhaps 3 feet from the ground. Casey and I yelled at the girls, telling them that this was a sacred place. They, of course, ran off.
During the course of that day, our mothers took pictures of us. Us in a hut, us next to the church, us posing near a river, etc. When we returned home, we had the pictures developed. There were sevral orbs around our heads in each picture! The only explanation that we could think of was that they were Native American spirits thanking us for being respectful.
