Paying a visit before going to Hell?

I have written many ghosts stories to this website, and all of them happened to myself. But now, as I can not remember anything else that have happened to me regarding ghosts or paranormal, I will start telling stories that happened to other people who are close to me, friends of mine, relatives, and other people I have met in my life.

Most of them I can assure that could be true because the people who told me are people I trust and I can not say if I do believe them or not, but the stories are really impressive and I would like to share with you.

Let’s start with this story.

A friend of my husband is a man that has some debts with the law. I do not know why he is not in jail now but I’m sure that he’s just free because what he have done was in a small town and everyone including the cops think that he did what he did for justice. He had to run away from that town and now he tries to hide in a small town next to mine. It seems the police know that he’s here and he was even called for an audience about his crime already, but he is still free, and it’s hard to believe that he did an horrible crime because he is a very nice easygoing person, very calm and friendly most of the time.

Well, about 7 or 8 years ago, this man was living in a small town at the west of our state. For obvious reasons I’ll call him Carlos and the town will be called “ Smallville”. Carlos used to live with an aunt and uncle, and three cousins. The town, although it was a small and kind of rural town, was very violent with gang assaults and that kind of stuff. There was a bad man called John who was the leader of a gang and he was always trying to fight with and shouting at Carlos’s cousins.

He had threatened them lots of times because of foolish issues not solved, maybe fights or argues not solved at the town’s bar and clubs, that kind of stuff, and Carlos was always trying to protect his young cousins from that evil man. John, the evil man, has even sentenced his uncle to dead because of a gambling issue and told everyone he would kill Carlos’ uncle if he met him on the streets late at night. It seems the police couldn’t do anything against that guy because he have never robbed or killed anyone, just threatened; so that they couldn’t simply lock him on a jail forever so that he could stop scaring everyone in town. That’s why most of the people who lived in that town had a gun at home, although that was forbidden by law to have guns without registration, and most of the people did.

But one night, John crossed the lines with Carlos… one of Carlos’s cousin was a 15 years old girl named Amanda. One night, she came back from school, with her clothes all dirty and torn, with her face, legs and arms all injured. She locked herself in her bedroom and didn’t talk to anyone. They asked her what happened and all she could say was nothing. Her mother got a way to be let in and soon the girl was in the kitchen; they were trying to calm her down but she couldn’t say a word, she was just crying and they soon figured out that she was raped by John. She didn’t want to tell them much but when they asked if that was John’s deed she started trembling so much that no one had a doubt that John, that evil and disgusting man, have raped Amanda when she was coming back from school alone.

Carlos didn’t think twice before grabbing the shotgun and rushing to John’s house. He was a married man and lived with his mother-in-law, but Carlos was thinking about nothing but doing the worst no matter if he had witnesses or not. He then knocked at John’s door twice and as soon as John opened the door, Carlos shot his face down with the shotgun. The women inside the house started screaming loud and then Carlos just threw the shotgun in some bushes near the house and hid himself in the woods next to the house.

He was hidden there and although the police tried to find him, it was too dark and he stayed there hidden and watching all the confusion and the police taking John’s body out of the house.

It was late and almost everyone from that house went to the police hall, then Carlos’ uncle came and told Carlos to run and hide inside the Smallville forest. Carlos got there and it started raining. One of Carlos’ cousin and his uncle went to the forest too and gave him a blanket and a piece of canvas, so that Carlos could get protected against the rain that was falling down at that time. They gave the blanket and canvas to Carlos and promised to come back the next day with food, and left Carlos alone.

It was almost dawn and raining a lot, and Carlos was there hidden below the canvas, holding it with his hands and always attentive so that he could run and hide himself again if the police came up… He was cold and very concerned of what he have done, but he also was relieved because killing John was actually a favor to the community, and to his poor cousin that was cowardly raped. It was about 4 or 5 am, and it was still dark when Carlos heard some footsteps coming towards him. He looked up and saw nothing but the footsteps in the wet grass went on and stopped in front of him. He was there staring at the dark and then he started freezing and was not so scared, but just trying to understand why that noise all of a sudden if he couldn’t see anything in front of him or nearby. He then looked down and put his arms down protecting from the rain, and the footsteps just went away as if passing by him and going away.

He stayed in the woods for about 3 days, always receiving food and dry clothes from his uncle and cousin, when they gave him some money and told him to leave the town. He left in the fourth day and never went back to Smallville.

When he told the story to me, I got really shocked and asked if he does not regret of what he have done. He said no, because now he knows his family and most of the town is in peace now, as the gangs stopped their actions after that killing.

The only thing that made him think about death and stuff was the footsteps on the grass, that he thinks it was John paying him a last visit before going to Hell.
