Spirit Resides in the Heart

I took a nap in the middle of the day about seven years ago. It was nothing unusual. I was alone at my mother's house waiting for my nephews and nieces to come over on a weekend so I could babysit them.

The out-of-body experience I had was unusual in that I don't recall where I went and the act of returning to my body woke me up. I experienced what it was like to have my spirit return to my beating heart inside my sleeping body. It was dark and peaceful.

I, my spirit, was located in my heart. Usually, in a conscious state, "I" is located in the head area. This time, "I" was my heart area.

I knew my body was sleeping as it was heavy and inert. My body was paralyzed. This was a new experience but it wasn't scary. I felt calm and peaceful. I really had the feeling that I was a spirit inside of a heavy human body. I wanted it to last longer than it did.

I thought I should try to go back to sleep since my body was asleep. I could not so I stayed awake and consciously opened my sleeping eyes. This was a strange feeling, kind of laborous.

"I" was more awake than my body and I didn't realize the effect it would have. I jumped out of bed. My body was still affected by sleep so I immediately fell down.

I picked my groggy, heavy body up off the floor and walked to the kitchen in this weird in between state of sleep and wakefulness. It took a several seconds for my sleeping body to catch up to my wide awake mind.

I still carry the feeling with me of returning to my heart. I know where the spirit lives.
