Hi The story I'll tell you is very simmilar to many ghost stories that you may have read in this website. Many people told here that they have seen or were attacked by a dark figure, or shadow or dark smoke, with red eyes or not, which they thought to be a spirit, os the devil itself. But for German descendents who lived in South of Brazil, this black figure that appears or attack, sometimes trying to strangle the victims, is known as the Trootle ( it's a German word and I just don't know the way I should write this and what's the meaning, so I wrote it the way I heard the word.)
This story was told by a workmate of mine, his name is Edson. He's about 40 years old now and is a very serious person, and he likes talking abour paranormal stuff too, like all of us!
He told me that when he was sixteen, he was laying in the bed listening to loud music, and almost falling asleep when he was looking to the ceiling and the lamp on the ceiling started getting blacker and blacker. The room started getting blacker too and the sound of the radio started fainting so he thought there was a black out going on, when suddenly this dark shadow in the form of a man appeared in front of him. The figure was actually sitting on Edson's belly, with long dark arms, most like a shadowy smoke, in the form of a man, but it had no face, only these two red eyes staring at him.
His hand, with long fingers, then grabbed Edson's neck and started to strangle him. Edson just couldn't get riddle of it, they started fighting but it looked like the shadow was too strong and he was almost fainting. Then Edson finally got to hit the creature's head with his fists. The creature seemed to feel some pain and felt aside and then Edson could see the lamp on the ceiling again and the radio playing loud music. He then just got up from the bed and rushed out of the bedroom calling for his mother, leaving the creature behind.
He told his mother what was going on and then she told him that the criature was known as the Trootle, she has already heard of such creature before. No one knows if the stories told for generations are true, but the Trootle was indeed part of the German descendents' folklore, and it is said that it has attacked some people from their family in the past.
Edson's mother then blessed the room, and Edson never saw the Trootle again, but he swears to me that all that happened to him was true and that he was not dreaming!
