Just one day apart of a car incident where i saw two people cross the road, and to be told there was only one. I found it hard sleeping that night. At 4.00am on the following night i heard someone banging on the window, down the road. "Oy,Oy". SHOUTING WENT ON FOR AROUND 5 MINUTES.

My initial instict thought was "Been out on lash, and wife locked him out ,Saturday night again". Then it clicked it was Monday, I heard a lady shout get your dad quick.

I shot out of bed and saw a ladder being put up against the wall 2 doors down. Two young men in boxer shorts climbed out of the window. Smoke black and bellowing out of the upstairs window was very serious.

Three fire engines, and police pulled up. One of the fire officers i know, got one of the lads and put him in the fire engine. The fireman ran to the back of the engine and took a bag out. He returned to the young man, and i saw the fireman shake a silver blanket and take it on the engine. I looked at the other young gent on the drive way, Dark hair, boxer shorts, and covered in soot. I thought they will sort him out in a mo...he was coughing and trying to get his breath.

My young son woke up, so i put him in my bed, and gave him a cuddle. I must have fell asleep.

The next day, talk of the street, as it is. I spoke to a neighbour and i spoke of two in the fire. Later that day, after work my neighbour said there was only one that got out in the fire. I argued black and blue, there was two.

Not so, the following day in the local newspaper, there was only one in the house, even the fire brigade done a local check as routine on the street as it was a serious fire, for fire alarms, there was only one in the fire. This bloke had no fire alarms fitted, thought i hadn't heard one anyway. But didn't think. But who was the other guy left on the driveway. Guardian angel ,i think so , someone was watching over that bloke that night. He was so lucky to be alive as the only escape was a 15 inch slot in the top window.......
