In the Nick of Time

In 1977 I was an Avon Representative. On one of my twice monthly deliveries to my customers, I had a most unusual encounter. I usually walked the 4-5 blocks from my residence to deliver my small orders and give out new books.
On my return home by foot I was walking along a two-lane road facing the oncoming traffic. I received a urgent message that said clearly, "Walk off the road 4 foot into the grass area (to my left side) the car coming up behind you is going to try to hit and kill you. You will fly into the air and become impailed on the chain link fence". I immediately began to argue with myself saying that why would anyone try to kill me? I don't have an enemy in the world.
I continued to walk in the small-stoned area along side of the macadam of the road. I heard the car approaching from behind speeding up faster. I heard the engine racing louder and louder. A strange calm affect came over me like I was in a spaced out state of mind (please note that I don't take drugs or drink alcohol). A buzzing sensation started at the hairline of my scalp on the right hand side of my forehead and continued around the side and down the back of my head. To my utter amazement I began to swagger and my left foot went into the grass and my right foot followed. Again, my left foot went to my left and my right foot followed. All the while I fully intended to continue walking in the small-stoned area along side of the macadam road. I had no choice.
That car came up behind me, crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and put its tires in the area I had just been walking. All I saw was the blurr of a dark brown car as it flew past me. I looked into the back window of the car and saw two men. The buzzing sensation stopped on my head and I immediately walked into the intended direction along side of the road. As I continued home I was amazed as to what had happened.
When I went to put my key in my front door, my hand began to shake violently. I stepped into the foyer and my knees started to buckle underneath me as I was coming to the realization that someone had just tried to kill me. I quickly sat down on my living room couch with tears springing into my eyes. I was in shock and could not believe what just occured.
Two weeks later I was reading in the newspaper that someone had hit and run an elderly woman who lived across the 4 lane highway from my home. Months earlier in the next town there had been two other incidents. This was the 3rd hit and run. I suddenly realized if I hadn't been walked off the road, I would have been this 3rd victim. IF I HADN'T BEEN WALKED OFF THE ROAD. Those words rung loud and clear in my mind.
If you study the human brain, you will find out that the right hand side of the brain controls the left hand side of the human body. It made sense that the buzzing sensation on my head was someone taking control of the left side of my body. Right there and then I realized that a higher power had intervened. It was in the nick of time that my guardian Angel had stepped in and saved my life that day!
