My Grandfather's Passing

When I was a child in the first grade, I remember my grandfather, who had been ill for years, had been hospitalized. He had been suffering from diabetes for years. He lived alone, right behind our house, and because of that, we hired him a provider. Anyway, my mother had picked me up from school and said that we were going to visit him. She was crying alot- since he was her father- and she couldn't bear to hear that the nurse's refused to go into the room with him anymore. Gangreen had set in his legs, and the "smell was too much to bear". As the nurses had stated.
I wasn't allowed inside because of my age, and my mother asked me to have a seat in the waiting area. She hugged me, and I told her that I was sorry. The strangest look appeared on her face and she asked me why I would apologize if I didn't do anything.
"Grandpa's going to die before the week's over, mom. I'm sorry that I can't do anything for him." That's the last thing I told her before she went up.
She had asked me why I would say something like that.
I replied: "I just know."
Sure enough, three days later, my grandfather died due to complications. After that, my mother treated me a little oddly. She didn't get too close to me and regarded me as though I were a "disease".
I wonder....has this happened to many other people?
