My Dad brought this chestnut thoroughbred (Blue) about 4 years ago. He haddn't been ridden for at least 2 years and was pretty nervous. It took a while to get this horse to trust Dad and I. We are members of a trail club and one Sunday morning we had a club ride. I rode the thoroughbred because he will a little on edge and I didn't want dad getting hurt if anything happened.
The whole ride Blue kept trotting up to the front of the pack and then he would slow down and everytime he would slow to the back he would do the same thing. When he was trotting to the front of the pack I felt him change from a trot to a fast canter. I couldnt do much as he was going way to fast to turn, and pulling on the reins had no effect. He cantered down the straigh road and he got faster and faster. At the time I was thinking "I'm going to fall of arent I?" I wasnt staying in the saddle very well and I was worried that I would seriously get hurt if I fell.
For some reason I felt a calm rush come over me, it was weird because I would have been so worried, yet I was calm and relaxed about the situation.
When we got to the end of the road Blue slowed up and when he couldnt see anyone he started to jump around so I turned him until he stood still. I started to walk him back towards everyone and he settled down.
When he took off on me I couldnt figure out why I was so calm about it all, then I realised...my angels were at my side.
