The Murky Window

Although this story may not be very impressive in terms of actual paranormal activity, the event that follows did indeed frighten me. I believe what I witnessed was a ghost of some kind.

One night, about three years ago I was in my room preparing for bed. I must stress that although I sometimes think it is, my house is not haunted. However, the building across from me has to be. It is a block of flats, about 24 stories high and going up the middle of it is a stair case leading all the way to the top floor. This stair case has windows on every landing, so you can see the wall, but not the door to the flat on either side. People often pause on these landings for a cigarette before going into their home and I have noticed them often and am familiar with what their silhouettes look like.

On this night, the third window down from the very top looked strange. It was about 10:00pm and all the stair case lights were on, but the third one down was flickering on and off. It also looked much dimmer than the other lights. As I stared at it however, I realised the dimness was being caused by a semi-transparent shape, because it moved away from the window and out of sight. And once it had gone, the light stopped flickering and all was normal again. These windows do not have curtains and it wasn't just a person standing around. I know this wasn't particularly exciting or frightening, but for me it was my first and only ever paranormal experience, so I wanted to share it.
