I have had more obe then I could count. I was in active drug addiction for many years and I know that it was the use of morphine that regularly induced the obe. I am in recovery and, unfortunately, these do not happen anymore. The obe occurs between the awake and dream state for me. It was so regular that I could control the experience. I would drift off and feel my body become almost paralized and know it was nearing the time that I would leave my body. In the beginning I would have no control and find myself going out a window and when I was not in the safety of my home it would be scary. I would feel as if I flew and then there would often be what I would call demons and I would immediately force myself to the ground. If I wasnt in my home it was also as if I was more in a dream that I had control of.

When I learned to stay inside I would simply drift around my home. I would look out windows. I would drift up the stairs and look at my children. It was only rarely that I could look at myself seperating from my own body. Usually it was a quick seperation and the feeling was so peaceful. I came to look forward to the obe and if I would spend the night at others homes I could do it there too. It seemed a little more unfamiliar though and I would think there were others watching me from outside so I didnt do it alot when not in the safety of my own home. I would hate waking up and not being able to breath or move as if I was paralized and that was when I was re connecting with my body. I read in an article that a good way to not panic and to reconnect easier was to try to wiggle just your toes so you can focus and that works very well. I now often wonder if the ghosts that people see are actually people having those out of body experiences.
