Second Chance

In 1965 I had a brain aneurysm. I had been in a local hospital first because they didn't know what was going on. I had fluid (blood)collecting in my head so they sent me to Cleveland. The doctors operated to remove the fluid. During this time I didn't know who or where I was. I was "out". While in the intensive care, I had my experience.
I was being led by a "guide" towards this light that was intense and the guide told me that it was okay, that I didn't have to worry about anything and I was at peace. I saw a green field below with beautiful flowers, a tree and a creek and I loved it. Then we came to a white bridge, I wanted to cross it but the guide said I had 3 small children that needed me and I couldn't cross over the bridge. I didn't tell anyone about this experience for a long time because I thought they'd think I was crazy. I knew it was very real and special and also didn't know if I was supposed to tell anyone.
While I was sitting in a waiting room of my husband's doctor a couple of years later I read a magazine excerpt from a book by Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross telling about sitting beside dying children and they were relating stories that were so similar to mine. I was thrilled to know I wasn't the only one to have this experience! I don't think you have to be a certain religion to get there. After my experience I wasn't afraid of dying but was careful who I related my story to. My only concern is whether I'll have a second chance. I don't know.
