Woman in the Basement
From: Joel (JoelH182@hotmail.com) Story type: Ghost Location: basement Source: Form Submission
About 6 months ago, my wife had already left to go to work and I was about to walk out the door, when I heard a faint sound, that I thought was coming from behind the basement door. I immediately grabbed a kinfe and slowly walked to the door. I opened it as fast as I could and dropped the knife as I realized what I saw in the corner of my basement.
It was a slightly transparent woman, huddled in the corner, rocking back and forth, mumbling to herself as she ripped out chunks of her hair. As I stared in awe as the shocking memory flashed through my mind. I suddenly remembered the day when I was about 5 years old, when I saw my mother throw herslef down the basement stairs, and I screamed as she layed there unconscious.
I remember I slammed the door and sat under the kitchen table crying and screaming as I waited for my dad to walk through the front door. After what seemed like forever, my dad finally came home and I told him everything that happened. When the police came, they ran down the basment stairs and investigated everything in the house. They found an empty bottle of perscription medication and empty bottles of vodika.
My dad recently told me that my mother had tried to commit suicide when I told him what I saw in the basement and remembered that day. He also told me that my mother was sent to a mental institution, where she later commited suicide.
I had no idea of my mother's horrible
past because my whole life, everyone had
told me that she died of cancer. I haven't
seen her since then, but sometimes I can
still sense her presence. Thanks for reading
my story.
