This story didn't happen to me, but to my mother when she was a teenager still living with her parents (my grandparents). She told me about it when I was a young girl, but it has stayed with me since then.

My mother is the seventh child out of seven children. My grandparents were very religious and raised their family in the beliefs that they had faith in. They were poor but they had everything that they needed. The house consisted of 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. The 3 oldest children had already moved out and had families of their own, leaving 4 still living with my grandparents. My mother and my uncle stayed in the same room as my grandparents as they were the youngest.

One night as they were sleeping, my grandmother awoke to what she thought was a knock at the door. She woke up my grandfather to go and see who it was that was there so late at night. He said that he didn't hear anything and that there was no-one there. My grandmother, thinking that she might have been dreaming, laid back down to go to sleep. A few minutes after she laid back down, she heard the knocking again.

She then tried to get my grandfather to get up, that she had heard it this time and that there was someone at the door.

He replied the same as before saying that there was no-one there. My grandmother knew that she had heard someone knock, so she laid in bed again just to see if they would knock again.

After about 5 minutes or so, the knock came again...this time loud enough for the whole house to be awaken by it...even my grandfather who obviously was a heavy sleeper! He got up, accompanied by my grandmother and the children behind him. He opened up the door and what they encountered at the threshold could only be described as the most magnificent bright light that you could imagine.

The light filled the whole kitchen. My grandfather told my mom and the rest to get on their knees and start to pray. They did as they were told and got on their knees. They felt nothing but an immense peace and somehow knew that it was not there to do them any harm.

After about 5 minutes or so the light ascended into the night sky and was gone. It was as if it was sent there to let them know that everything was going to be alright and for them not to worry that God would take care of them.

I know that this story is true, and that she did tell me. I came across my mothers diary one day while looking for some art supplies. It wasn't an old diary, in fact it was a recent one. She had written the event down in it.

Thank you for reading this story, maybe it will give some inspiration to someone.
