I have several Angel stories relating to my miracle of being alive in life but I think this one is one that most of the United States knows about (actually the incident is).

I was working at a law firm in downtown Oklahoma City as a records manager and a messenger among many hats that I wore for this company. I was running late to work on April, 19, 1995 and I usually am early enough that I stop by the Post Office on 4th and Harvey and check my mail before going to the office in the morning so I don't have to worry about for the rest of the day. So I am hoofing it to the office (Actually driving but driving faster than I usually would so I would not be much later.) trying not to be any later than I was going to be that morning. Upon exiting Interstate 40 going into downtown I pondered that I should just go ahead and check my mail anyway since I was already late what was a few more minutes going to hurt.

My post office is only two blocks north of where my office is but it consists of one way streets so that would mean that I would have to double back a few times before I could get back to my office after checking the mail. Anyway, I had reached the corner of Robert S. Kerr and Harvey just a right turn away from my office and sitting at the red light and something said to me (and to this day I know it was my angel) "Go ahead and go in to the office you can check your mail later."

So I start to work on my everyday duties (at that time) by going down in my building's concourse to pick up my company's mail as I will be sorting it for 15 different attorneys as soon as I get into the office. So I head to the elevators as I will go up to the 11th floor of this building. As soon as I set the mail tub down to begin my sorting duties my office mate Hazel walks up behind me and starts small conversation and no much later I turn around to look at whose mail slot I was to put the first letter in I hear (as all of downtown Oklahoma City does) this loud boom and the building shakes from the top down. Hazel and I look at each other as if this would be the last time we looked at each other and then all of a sudden everything settles.

Everyone all over the office starts scurrying for the nearby windows to see if they could see anything. I do nothing at that time because I said that it was probably a gas line explosion coming from the Federal Reserve Bank because at the time there was construction going on in the basement of that building and I should know I walk these streets as our firms messenger and know every bit of it like the back of my hand. Other theories were a plane crashed into a building in downtown.

So I continue with my duties but something makes me pick up the phone and call one of my best friends in Dallas and say "Stan I don't know what has just happened here but I sure know that this is going to be on National TV." My friend Stan is usually so busy that he doesn't have time for me in the morning and we usually talk about it later in the evening but he said that day when I said that to him he said that he had to sit down.

A few minutes later several people from my office come running back into the office and tell me that someone had just bombed the Federal Building. I looked back at them in shock. I remember some of the thoughts that used to cross my mind when I went into Federal Court to do filing for my company when I would have to go through the metal detectors "Like somebody is ever going to do anything here in Oklahoma City."

All of a sudden it hits me. If I would have went to check my mail that morning where I turn to go back to my office building is a right turn in front of the Alfred P. Murray Building. The timing would have either just been perfect or I would have narrowly escaped it if I had checked my mail. That feeling is so eerie and to this day I have questions about it. If I would have checked my mail would I have seen the men running away from the truck or would I have been another victim.

Thanks to my guardian angel I am here today and I have some great things to accomplish because several other things that have happened in my life says that I should have died but I am blessed to think that I have a chance to do some wonderful things for other people.
