My wife went into labor with our third child in the middle of the night. Living in Big Bear, we had to drive down the hill (40 miles) to have the baby. (the hospital in Big bear is small and is not equipped to birth babies).
It was not more than a few minutes later that the contractions started hitting her hard and fast. We made it a little less than half way down when my wife said "stop the car now." I pulled off into a turnout and she immediately got out of the car and said "My water just broke, clear out the back seat."
I moved with lightning speed to clear out the seat and she got in the back. I could see the head of the baby already coming out. There was no choice at that point "Lord, be with us." I prayed silently. There was a calm that I felt and I knew that everything would be OK.
I helped my wife deliver the baby with no problems, and in the process, out of nowhere a tow-truck came around the corner. The man pulled over and asked what the problem was and I said "My wife is having a baby".
He nearly fell over backwards and ran to radio from his truck for an ambulance. It was a good thing, because I had not cut the umbilical cord and later the doctors said the baby had a little too much blood going to his brain.
An ambulance arrived a little while later along with the police. After everything was somewhat settled, I asked one of the officers where the tow truck driver was because we wanted to thank him. The officer said "What tow truck driver?"
No one had any recollection of seeing him or knowing about him. We believe he was an angel sent just to make sure everything was going OK.
Our little boy is now three, and he glows above any child we have ever seen. He has blond hair and blue eyes which is not a trait for either my wife or me.
We are blessed with him every day, and we will never forget the night Jesus blessed us with our golden child.
