I guess I should start by giving you a little background. I was at that time a young teen mother and was from the start, totally in love with my child, whom I will call Brian. I lived in a very small town called Robert Lee with a population of about 1200 people. You know, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone AND their business. Anyway, my cousin opened up a small dress shop downtown and that was my first job. I would come in and open the shop, stay there all day, and close up in the evening. One day, I had Brian with me because my mother who usually kept him, was working. Brian was sitting on the floor beside me eating animal crackers. A middle-aged women whom I had never seen before came into the shop and she said she wasn't looking for anything specific, just browsing. Brian began choking, and I could tell that it was really bad. I panicked. I did not know the Heimlich Maneuver at that time. This angel picked him up and proceeded to get him unchoked. She then smiled and handed Brian to me, both of us crying. She left the store and I never saw her again. No one in the community knew of a women with her description.
