Lumberjack Angel

My friend and I were coming from Washington to Tennessee. We had stopped at a truck stop to eat and were planning on driving through the night . A friendly waitress told us to be real careful and not stop at the interstate rest areas for any reason. Apparently there had been several attacks and murders of women at them. We were scared but had to be back in Tenn. in 2 days so we drove on into the night. Around 4 in the morning, my friend sleeping in the back, I began to feel really sleepy and tried to wake her, with no luck.
We were in the middle of nowhere and suddenly there was a rest area. There was nothing to do at this point but stop. There were no cars or trucks in sight. I was scared but couldn't have kept my eyes open one more min. Pulled in parked by the bathrooms, made sure my door was locked, and proceeded to lay over the front seat. As I did I saw this huge man with dark shiny hair and a bright red plaid jacket walk to the front of my car , stop and look inside.
The only thing I could think was " God I hope that's an angel" and fell asleep. The next thing I knew it was 8 a.m. and the rest area was busy. My friend was furious that I hadn't woke her to drive, I told her about our angel, we thanked God for his protection and got home safely.
Neither of us thought more about the incident until 4 years later when I heard a lady talking about a serial rapist that had been attacking single women in their homes. She had been working 2 jobs, to make ends meet and came home one evening so tired she went straight to her bed and collapsed with her clothes on. She saw a huge man standing at her back door and then realized that her back door wasn't even closed tight, much less locked. "God I hope that's an angel she prayed and fell asleep. Funny thing, she said. He didn't look like the angel pictures she'd seen. He was 8' tall, dark shiny hair and he was wearing a bright red plaid jacket, the kind lumberjacks wear.
