When I was 13 yrs. old I lived with my mother in Florida. We had move there 3 yrs. ago from Mi. where I had grown up. My mother was the only family I had in Fl. She had begun drinking heavily and doing drugs. She was always in a bar and many nights didn't even come home. She had many boyfriends that beat her black and blue. She didn't seem to care about me. We never had food as she spent it all on drugs and alcohol, the only meal I ever got was at school. I was miserable! I desperately wanted to go home. (back to Mi where all my family was)

One night I was woke up at 2am by my mother and of course she was drunk. She asked me if I wanted to go home. I was confused and said what do you mean home? She said I mean home, back to Michigan. I said yea but how? (we didn't have a car) She said she had been talking to this guy at the bar about our situation and he offered to drive us home and pay the entire trip back. I was very hesitant because here is this complete stranger offering to drive hundreds of miles and pay the entire way. I told my mother no way he is probably a murderer or rapist or something. I was very scared of trusting this stranger. My mother was very insistent that he could be trusted. So I decided to trust in God and hopefully we would make it.

We packed a few clothes and headed on our way. I was so afraid getting in his truck that day, but it turned out to be the best decision we made. He drove us all the way to Mi. He even stopped and paid our motel fees. He got me and my mother our own room. When we arrived at my grandma and grandpa's house they couldn't believe it. I was so happy!! All I remember is the man's name is Pat. I'll never forget him. I truly believe he is my angel.
