"Mom, have you seen my purse?" I asked as I walked throught the living room.

"No," my Mom answered. "Check around your desk."

My Mom and I looked around my desk, on my bed, under my bed, in the kitchen, in the basement, and in every other room of the house. I just couldn't find my purse. I thought this really strange because I distincly remembered sitting it on my desk chair when I came in the house not an hour before.

I walked back into the living room and sat in the chair by the door, wondering where my purse could have ended up.

Eventually I just figured that I would leave without it. I had my driver's license, bank card, and cell phone in my coat pocket. I could live without the other stuff. I walked into my room to grab my coat and stopped dead in my tracks. My purse was sitting on top of my coat in my desk chair... just where I had put it when I came home.

"Mom," I called out. "You won't believe this. My purse is on the chair."

My Mom looked at my funny and asked, "Are you sure?"

"Yes," I said, holding it up.

My Mom laughed and said, "Someone doesn't want you to leave."

I gave her a look and put on my coat. As I headed out the door I gave my Mom a kiss and told her that I'd be home a little after midnight and not to wait up for me. My Mom told me to be careful because it was dark and rainy.

I got into my car and turned on the radio. As I was sitting there letting my car warm up I heard the DJ come on. He was telling about a bad accident on I-695, "Folks, we just got word of a bad accident on 695 right around the 702 split. About 20 minutes ago a tractor trailer lost control and hit the guard rail. It seems as though 2 cars and a van were hit and that there are some serious injuries. The medi-vac helicopter is being dispatched to the scene. I would suggest taking an alternate route because 695 will be closed in both directions for the next hour or so."

I know that I went pale and I started to shake. I would have been around the general area that the accident occured, if I had been able to find my pocket book. I now know that someone didn't want me to leave. Someone or something was watching out for me. I dare say that it was an angel.
