My Brother Luc - My Driving Angel

My Brother passed away 9 years ago today, October 29th. He passed away when he was a young 36 yrs. old.

We had a call saying that he was dying and didn't have long to live and to please come quickly. My family and I went to Toronto to be with him. We said our farewells and Luc passed away the next afternoon at 3:48 p.m. He was to be cremated and his ashes to be buried in our hometown.

I received a call one week later to pick up his ashes in Sudbury at the funeral home. I was to make the trip alone so I left around 11:00 p.m. to arrive in Sudbury to meet the driver from Toronto. I had been driving now for approx. 15 minutes when the temperature changed from snow to freezing rain to blowing snow to rain. In other words the worst driving temperature. I am not a night driver and I was scared. I'm a very nervous driver at night - visibility is always poor and you never know what might cross the road (moose, bears). I finally arrived in time but the driver from Toronto was late because of the bad weather. At 1:00 a.m. he finally arrived and I pick up my Brother to bring him home.

The weather was still bad I had to go back home. I put my brother on the passenger seat and ask him to help me drive back. I kept asking him to help me to bring us safe and sound. I got on the road and after driving a few miles the weather eased up and the snow stopped. I was able to drive home safe and sound. I was at peace - driving. Since that night, I'm never afraid to drive after dark. Luc took away my fears - He is truly my driving Angel.
