This incident that I am about to confess - happened just a few nights ago in my home - which I reside in with my small family (my husband and two daughters). This house was built by my father (who passed away in 1994). Since his death, I have always felt he was still wondering here in the house protecting and watching over us.
Which brings me to my story, It was about 7 in the evening when my family and I were on a family night outing to a concert and just parking next to the beach. We had to stop by the house because I had forgotten to turn the air conditioner on before we left, so - as I walked into the house, I looked around to see if everything was in place (which was a habit of mine - each time I returned home). Everything appeared fine and in place.
As I was walking up the stairs to the den, I then was startled by this thick and very heavy smoke (which seemed that I had walked in the middle of). I was so startled that I yelled out loud for my husband - who was waiting in the car.
At first, I thought that there was something burning in the upper level of the house, but as I backed away from the spot looking away for a moment to see if my husband was coming, I then looked back and saw that there wasn't anymore smoke. I then stood there confused and had chills running up my spine. My husband came running in and asked me what was wrong, I didn't know how to say what had just happened.
Eventually, I told him every detail. He replied that he ran in after seeing this scared look on my face as he neared. We both told each other that maybe it was father's spirit, just watching over the place while we were out. I guess you can say - I probably just must have startled him when we came unexpectedly and that I met up with him right in that spot. I remember that the smoke had no odor, but was very heavy. It was so heavy that I could sort of feel the thickness of the smoke around me. I really can't say what I encountered, but I believe it had something to do with my father.
