Balls from Space

The following is an account of some inexplicable phenomenon that happened to me and some friends. Mind you, I am a college and graduate school level educated person living in an apartment in New York City and not some lonely sci-fi freak with anything better to do. A friend of mine and I were sitting in my apartment on the sofa with my maroon, wooden, painted coffee table in front of us. I had just cleaned my apartment and the table a few minutes before. During our conversation, I noticed two small balls (1/8" in diameter) sitting near one end of the table. We picked them up and could not figure out what they were so we looked all over the table, under and around every object in the vicinity, up on the ceiling and on the floor. There was no indication as to where these came from or what they were. We put them aside and continued watching TV. After a while I looked down again and four more had appeared right on the coffee table near where the other ones were. We were both 99% sure they had not been there before

off the rest of the table. It was then that a third friend entered the apartment. We explained the odd happenings to him and he did not believe us. The coffee table at this point was completely clear except for the 6 balls on the piece of paper, so we left it for a while (not leaving the table). After about an hour of watching TV and talking, we laughed and looked down at the piece of paper wondering if our little friends had reproduced again. There was nothing on the paper but the 6 we had left. However, near the edge of the table (where we had found the others) there were now 3 more of these balls, two of which were stuck together. We were now completely freaked out. There was no way any of us could have been playing a trick on the others because we would have seen him put the last three balls on the table. Besides, we had never seen these types of balls before in our lives, anyway. Over the course of the night, we found another underneath my chair and kept the ten balls on the piece of paper.
