Flying Wardrobe

My wife and I were vacationing in Hursley. It was our last night and we were to leave early in the morning for Gatwick and a return to the US. It was recommended by associates to spend the night in a local Pub which had rooms upstairs. The pub closed for the night and except for 2 men in another room, we were the only occupants of the building. The owner gave us a large key, I mean the key was 10 inches long and said to lock the door from the outside and drop the key in the mail slot when we left in the morning.

In the room was an empty wardrobe. The door of the wardrobe would swing open every once in a while as we walked past. The wardrobe was constructed of lightweight wood. We would shut the door and figured it was opening due to being disturbed by our footsteps.

In the morning as we were preparing to leave, the wardrobe suddenly flew across the room landing upside-down on its back a good 10 feet away. Needless to say, we departed immediately leaving the wardrobe where it lay.

I am a mechanical engineer and can state with some authority that there is no way the wardrobe could have fallen by itself and flown across the room. If it tipped over due to the door opening, it would have simply flopped on the floor.

No one was anywhere near it when it happened. My wife and I figure the pub was probably haunted and that is the cause of the flying wardrobe. This is a true story.
