For three months, we have lived in an apartment in which the building was once and old courthouse, a library, and a school building.

On several occasions, during both day and night, I have stepped from one room to another, and caught ghostly movement using my peripheral vision. A blur that just whisks by. It's been both light and dark, which leads me to believe there is more than one apparition present.

Several times, the smoke alarm has gone off for no reason. When we grab the hand towel to fan the alarm until it stops blaring, we often smell smoke, like the afterburn from a match, not a fire. I don't smoke, and the wife only uses a lighter, and we are the only two people who occupy the apartment. The owner doesn't know enough about the old building to either confirm nor deny any deaths in this building.
