Balls of Light III

My experience with unusual balls of light was extremely similar to Mark Ferguson's, but different that Jeffrey Jones'. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were relaxing on the couch in my parent's basement. It was late afternoon and the lights were off. A small ball of light (maybe 3 inches in diameter) appeared in front of me, then split into 3 balls of the same size. They were gold in color, and remained suspended at equal height from the ground. Then appeared slivers of light beneath them. The entire experience lasted about 10 seconds. I looked at my wife to see if she saw what I saw. I didn't say a word, but the look on her face indicated that she had seen something.

After a brief silence, I asked her if she saw something. She said, "I saw three lights, but it was blurry. What WAS that?" To me, it appeared blurred, then gradually became clear and even solid. As with Mark, the experience was disturbing. I hoped that I would never see anything like that again.

It felt unnatural, as if it were something that didn't belong here. My grandfather had died the week before; he was 97 years old, and had feared death for many years. I do not know if that had anything to do with it, but there's a good chance that it did. My experience was not only uneasy/scary, it was truly frightening.

This took place a few years ago, around January 5th. The balls of light did not "fly" around the room.

ALTERNATE ANALYSIS: There is a holy day that has to do with the three wise men, and to represent this in church, they display three flags, one for each man. There is a gold ball at the top, and the flag hangs down from there. Relatives believe that I saw something related to this.

Mark, please send more information on your experience: exact date (time of year), age of family members who had died, etc. Sam, feel free to edit this email and include it in your archive.
